SO, WHATS ON YOUR SCHEDULE FOR THE REST OF 09?
Right now, I'm just looking to grow my company and push it to the limit. I don't really have a schedule , I'm just going to continue make music from my heart and see what happens.
I’VE HAD A CHANCE TO HERE SOME OF YOUR WORK ON KHALI’S“TRAGEDY & HOPE”. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
I would describe my sound as a soulful mix of jazz, r&b, blues, neo soul, and some gospel influences also. I have a very broad spetrum when it comes to my sound.
AS AN INDIE PRODUCER WHATS MORE YOUR FOCUS? INDEPENDENT ARTIST OR ARE YOU AIMING TO GET MORE INVOLVED WITH MAJOR RECORDING ARTISTS?
I'm focusing more on the independent artists because they are more open to be different and not conformed to the industry standard of what and artist should be.
ARE YOU GOING TO DROP AN ALBUM OF YOUR OWN?
That is definately in my future plans one day soon.
WHATS YOUR DREAM PROJECT?
My dream project would be my own project, featuring artist like Felicia G., Faith, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan on one disc and DH, Neo, Usher, Maxwell, Smokey Robinson, Rakim and Jay Z on the other disc. I know, crazy mix huh.
NOW WITH SOLRAC, YOU DON’T JUST DO THE MUSIC, YOU ALSO HAVE TO OVERSEE ALL THE OTHER ASPECTS OF RUNNING A LABEL. WHICH DO YOU PREFER; PRODUCING OR RUNNING A RECORD LABEL?
Although I love producing, I prefer running my label because it allows me to be in complete control of my own destiny so-to-speak. Overseeing every aspect of an artists development is crucial to Solrac's success.
DO YOU PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?
Yes, I do. I play drums, keyboards, organ, tuba and a little bass guitar.
MUSICALLY, WHERE’D YOU GET YOUR START?
When I was in middle school, I joined the band as a percussionist and soon , I started to play the tuba. From there, I progressed to the youth choir at my church. That's when the real training started.
WHATS A TYPICAL “WOLF SESSION” LIKE?
Very structured.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
The current state of the music business inspires me to make a productive impact in the music game.
WHEN DID YOU REALIZE THAT THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WANTED TO DO FOR A CAREER?
Probably about 16 or 17 years ago.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO LET THE PEOPLE KNOW?
Lookout for Solrac Records, we're coming with a breath of fresh air. Solrac will bolster music and spoken word for all ages.
